Last year, we participated in the flat farmer program and one of the questions asked was “what is our favorite part of having a cattle farm”? I thought that was a great question and it seemed like a good way to start laying out 2020. There are many things –
Everyday is different – There is an even mixture of planning and spontaneity – God’s handiwork is readily apparent -At the end of the day, there is a feeling of peace and accomplishment.
Another question asked was “In order to own and manage a successful livestock ranch you need?”
1. To believe that tomorrow will be better.
2. Have medical, mechanical, math and science skills or aptitude.
3. Have the drive to learn more every day and the compassion to put others before you.
4. To see God’s handiwork in all that surrounds you.
5. Be able to laugh at yourself.
So as we start to plan the goals, and aspirations for this year, the above thoughts will remain front and center.
