Here at the CZ Ranch, we follow numerous programs designed to provide the best care to our cattle, and to provide our buyers with superior calves. There are many ways to add value to your cattle. Today we will review Owner Certified Natural. Most people have come to recognize Owner Certified Natural, (OCN) as meaning cattle that were raised without added chemicals or antibiotics. OCN affidavits are provided to buyers and allows sellers to certify that they have had possession of the cattle, have birth records if applicable and meet the natural requirements.
Western Video Market uses the following criteria;
- Never fed or administered any antibiotics.
- Never fed any ionophores such as Bovatec or Rumensin.
- Never administered or implanted with any added hormones, such as growth implants or estrus synchronization products.
- Never fed any foodstuffs or supplements containing animal by-products.
CZ Ranch, LLC criteria is narrowed down to the following;
- Never fed or administered any antibiotics unless the health of the calf has been determined to be at risk. Once that determination is made, antibiotics are used as required to restore health and the calf is removed from the OCN program.
- Our cattle eat a natural diet that consists of grass, hay, grains, shrubs, trees, fruits and vegetables.
- We let the bull and moms determine pregnancy and growth rates.
